Card and blend fibres and colours quickly and efficiently. The controlled intake and carding will produce a smooth even batt ready for blending, spinning or felting. All nylon bearings ensure it is light and easy to turn. The card cloth has wire teeth with a special protective coating and a flexible rubber backing for long life.

Ashford manual spinning wheel

This compact wheel is light weight (5kg/11lb) and portable with folding treadle, built-in lazy kate and carry handle. Fold and go it can be carried easily in cars, as carry-on luggage in planes (check with your airline first as this varies from aircraft to aircraft) and takes up little space at home.

Spin a variety of yarns using the four ratios. The stretchy drive cord does not require any adjustment as you change from one ratio to another and always maintains the correct tension. The wheel and flyer are mounted on ball bearings for effortless spinning. Smooth and quiet with treadles mounted on polyurethane hinges to allow a comfortable heel-toe action.

The electric spinning machine can be used to produce customized yarn. It is used together with a digital software to program the yarn's properties.

The spinning machine can be used to spin small quantities of fibres, such as local wool, regional materials or even recycled fibres. Existing yarns can be twisted into new designs and integrate new functions, such as elasticity through overtwist.
Yarn samples can be developed rapidly to test different qualities for new designs and business opportunities.
