The Residency

From October 1st to November 11th, 2017, Lottozero was occupied by French artists Robin Darius Dolatyari and Chloé Rozycka Sapelkine.

For 6 weeks our entire workplace became their living and production space, they held it open to the public 24 hours a day welcoming anyone who wanted enter into what was becoming the construction of their artistic universe.

WORKSHOPS AND CONCERTS

The residence was interspersed by a full calendar of events which were open to the public; concerts, lectures and workshops designed to give these artists new tools for elaborating the textile matter.

The arrival of the artists and the beginning of the occupation was celebrated with a performance by musician and sound artist Giovanni Lami, who manipulates sounds like those obtained by magnetic tapes left buried underground for months.

During the occupation, on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of October we celebrated Lottozero's first anniversary with a calligraphy and a letterpress workshop and the concert of Johnny Mox with his project Stregoni dedicated to migrants, followed by a dj set by Biga.

Other events that took place, were a theoretical lesson on performance history held by art historian and curator Desdemona Ventroni, and a practical workshop of movement and body awareness, by dancer Fabrizio Pezzoni.

FANZINE

The communication of the project was entirely entrusted to the artists who created a hand drawn fanzine every week. They photocopied it on orange fluo paper and distributed throughout the city. With it, they documented the evolution of the residence, told people about their meetings, their workshop activities and the progressive invasion of the entire Lottozero space through their work.

The occupation ended on November 11th with the inauguration of the exhibition Occupy Lottozero. Which was a reassessment of the city of Prato by the artists, through different languages and materials: soft sculpture, installation, object trouvè, performance, drawing, quilt, felt, ceramics and painting.
