Opening at Lottozero: SOFT FEELINGS (PART I / ANATOMY CLASS) by Alice Ronchi

Saturday 30th November at 19:00 you are all invited to the opening of Soft Feelings (Part I / Anatomy Class), an exhibition by Alice Ronchi that shows the first study of her ongoing research. We are so proud to present the results of her residency at Lottozero! She spent the last 2 months at Lottozero working on her new project focused on the intimacy of the body and sexuality.

Soft Feelings explores the intimate sphere of the body, its emotions, sensations and desires. The first chapter (Anatomy Class) is structured as a glossary of anatomical parts, erogenous zones, irregularities and peculiarities of the body, realized with materials and techniques that relate to the textile world.
The underlying narrative of the project is a visual poetry, where sexuality and emotion are treated with extreme purity and delicacy, as if being explained to a child. It uses a pastel colour palette with a predominance of pink, which represents the fleshy pink of the skin.

WORKSHOP: TAPESTRY WEAVING – CREAZIONI CON L'ARAZZO

TUESDAY, October 8th from 10:00 to 18:00 at LOTTOZERO, Via Arno 10, Prato.

Tapestry Weaving is an ancient textile craft that consists of the weaving of vertical and horizontal threads to compose real textile paintings. The weft and warp is worked in small strokes creating areas of color and composing drawings, figures and geometric motifs in cloth structure.
The first evidences of Tapestry weaving date back to 11th century Germany, later the technique developed mainly in France and in Flanders. From the end of the 1800s there was a revival of the tapestry thanks to the work of the artists of the Arts and Crafts movement by William Morris and the Bauhaus and today it is widely used by many contemporary artists.

ANNA M. ROSE at Studio House MUSEION
low_Rose_Anna_detail 3.1_homo bulla (2).jpg

After being invited by Museion Bozen-Bolzano, the museum of contemporary art in Bolzano, to curate their Studio House for all of 2019, it’s time to present our third and last exhibition with Homo Bulla, a new and site-specific project by American artist Anna M. Rose.

The masses of hair used in her sculptures are made of synthetic fibres, works that overturn the stereotypes linked to femininity. Homo Bulla is a playground where the visitor is physically involved, and can experience the ambiguity of the game’s rules and gestures, once they are out of the their original context.

The exhibition will be visible for FREE from the 6th of September to the 27th of October.
The Opening is on Thursday September 5th at 19.00 h.

See you there!

Guided visit- Generous Images Unable to Reach

A guided visit to the site-specific installation by Luca Vanello, with curator Alessandra Tempesti.

Entitled Generous Images Unable to Reach, the project is the result of various periods of residence by the artist at Lottozero textile laboratories between 2017 and 2018.
The intervention, in the form of a site-specific installation activated by a performance, investigates the relationship between human beings and non-human entities during the bereavement process. It explores the material as "vibrant agent" and the the impact of the latest digital technologies in the intimate and emotional process of accepting pain.

Lottozero in Turin with Luca Vanello: Generous Images Unable To Reach
Luca Vanello Invitation Flyer.jpg

Will you be in Turin for Artissima this week? If yes, we would like to invite you to visit the site-specific installation by Luca Vanello that premiers during those days. It's the result of various periods of residence at our center for textile art and design, Lottozero in Prato, and of the technical collaboration between him and renown companies of the textile district.

The project, Generous Images Unable To Reach, curated by Alessandra Tempesti, investigates the relationship between human beings and non-human entities during the grieving process. It has led to a collection of various types of materials (amongst which, obviously textiles) that were then subjected to a process of reversion that brought them back to their original state.

The exhibition will be open from October 30th to November 4th in the Davide Paludetto Gallery in Turin as part of Nesxt Festival 2018.

Would love to see you there
